Vevo Launches Music Video Channels on TelevisaUnivision’s Spanish-language Streaming Service ViX

The world’s largest offering of Spanish-language entertainment, news, and sports content bolsters its FAST service with live, linear-programmed music video channels from Vevo

NEW YORK, NY (August 23, 2022) – Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, and TelevisaUnivision, the world's leading Spanish-language media and content company, have partnered to launch Vevo-powered 24/7 live streaming music videos channels on ViX, the first global large-scale streaming service created specifically for the Spanish-speaking world.

ViX viewers can enjoy “Vevo Latino” (featuring artists such as Romeo Santos and Shakira) and “Vevo Reggaeton & Trap” (featuring artists such as Karol G and J Balvin) on the free, ad-supported streaming service. As part of the partnership, Vevo is also developing two additional FAST channels for ViX, including “Vevo Regional Mexicano” (featuring artists such as Calibre 50 and Los Ángeles Azules) and “Vevo Íconos Latinos” (featuring artists such as Celia Cruz and Selena), expected to launch in the fall.

“From bachata and salsa to cumbia and regional Mexican, Vevo is the destination for music videos from the world’s biggest Latin artists. Through ViX, we are expanding our distribution and delivering these beloved music videos to millions of Hispanic American homes,” said JP Evangelista, Senior Vice President, Content, Programming & Marketing, Vevo. “The diversity of our music video library reflects the many heritages within the U.S. Hispanic community. That’s why Vevo is able to uniquely program channels and curate viewing blocks for the Hispanic diaspora broadly, as well as by specific genres and traditions. We’re excited about what’s to come with the new custom channels we’re developing for the ViX audience, so that they can watch the sought-after content that is most culturally relevant to them.”

Consumer demand for Latin music videos is continues to grow, especially as the Hispanic American population (the second largest ethnic group in the U.S) continues to expand. In fact, the Latin genre was Vevo’s second most-viewed genre of 2021 globally, with Colombian singer Karol G named Vevo’s top artist of the year.

“Vevo music channels speak to the rhythm, passion, and identities of the large and diverse Spanish-language community,” said Bilai Silar, senior vice president, OTT Content, TelevisaUnivision. “This is another example of our commitment to delivering top-quality content to millions of Spanish-speakers who want to see their culture, language, interests, and experiences truly represented and reflected on screen.”

“Music videos offer a powerful in-language environment for campaigns. By bringing Vevo channels to the leading Spanish-language streaming service, we are providing advertisers with more ways to authentically reach this coveted, often tough-to-reach audience. In fact, survey results from the latest edition of our Vevo Media Tracker show that music is the top cultural connector among Hispanic Americans today – with 84% asserting music videos play an important role in pop culture,” said Rob Vélez, vice president, multicultural sales, Vevo. “Vevo is currently hosting our first-ever multicultural upfront this year, and advertisers interested in leveraging Vevo channels on ViX can work directly with the Somos Vevo team, our Hispanic-dedicated division, which can guide them through the various musical, cultural and geographic nuances of this community.”

ViX offers two tiers of service, including a free advertising-supported product (AVOD) launched in the U.S., Mexico, and most Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, with more than 100 channels and more than 40,000 hours of video-on-demand content. ViX is available for free on iOS, Android, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung smart TVs, Apple TVs, and via the web on vix.com.
